2020 is no doubt a tough year ,  no denying that but as when there is a forest fire , new life flourishes and positive things happen.  It's certainly a time for reflection and for restarts and here in our beloved London Borough of Hackney  we have seen a huge uptake in people living positively and healthily,  communities coming together , young people discovering the outdoors, wild swimming and just simple hanging out.  Not just in east London but it would seem all around the world there  has been a massive cycling boom.  BOOM!. Here at HGT there is  nothing we like more than being out at the weekends competing and riding on two wheels.  Are are a few the events we will be attending and taking part.  More off road than road as that is our bent plus a few non-cycle events to spice  it up.

We recently received the email below requesting any old kit to help inmates with there gym and cycle training at HMP Peterborough.  We put out a request through our social media networks and have been overwhelmed with the response.  We received 16 pairs of bib shorts and over 30 jerseys plus we donated a few bits rom Hackney GT.  Thanks to everyone who contributed and hopefully we can do it again

Our man in the Alps

Hackney GT team rider and all round good guy Shane Maher just recently completed the epic Trans Alp MTB stage race.  He has written us a little blog and supplied us with some great pics.  This event really is a bucket list contender :-)

Dramatic,Epic,fun,dangerous,exciting,this years Trans Alp was slightly unexpected compared to previous years of just riding gravel roads. This time they upped the game with free ride bike parks included with some very steep 30km downhills....

Team Hackney GT had our first outing to a gravel race for the inaugural Gritfest two day event in Llandovery, Wales a couple of weeks ago.  We was not sure what to expect.   How would the race format work?   What would be the best setup and and would the sausage roll pit stops be enough.  

The format for this event was two days of 90km and 60km respectively with three timed stages on each day and relaxed riding in between.   The stages varied a lot from a 1 hour 20km ball breaker  to a 2...
