Love Wins Kenya
In 2007 I travelled to Kenya whilst supporting a small UK charity working with a local orphanage. As part of the trip we visited a very small rural village, Miti Mingi and a long story short I have stayed in touch with the people there ever since .
Times there are now extremely hard . They had a water bore hole drilled and pump fitted in 2016 but can no longer afford the electricity to run it. So i suggested that Hackney GT could to raise the money needed for solar power installation for their water pump and farm irrigation.
The village is host to about 600 people affected by poverty and lack of infrastructure thus being able to farm their own food and have clean accessible water which will make a huge difference. It will create jobs and wages directly for 100 people which will have obvious benefits including be able to fund children’s education.
There will be a series events and fundraising initiatives to raise a target of £12000 over the next year. They will include a charity cycle ride, charity run, super clubs parties plus all profit from Love Wins gear at hackneygt.com/collections/love-wins ( t-shirts, sweat shirts , cycle kit and more) will go to the cause. All fund raising proceeds will be delivered by Links International UK links.charity who have overseen due diligence and verification of the proposed project and currently have staff in Kenya who will provide on the ground on going observation of the project from beginning to end .
Thanks for everyone who has already supported and look forward to seeing some of you at some of the fundraising events this year.
